Our Classes

Ballet classes taught at the Academy stem from the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). This gives students the opportunity to take graded examinations which result in internationally recognized qualifications. The syllabus work is great fun and enables the development of musicality and expression, confidence, technical skill, sense of rhythm and co-ordination.

Modern Theatre dance is a highly energetic genre of dance combining high kicks, soaring leaps, twisting turns and traveling steps, all developed with strength and flexibility. In modern dance we use the gravity in our movements instead of overcoming it like we try to do in ballet. It is known for its theatrical, exciting and breath -taking qualities.

Contemporary dance movement is more internal, showing the dancers’ strength, control, and quickness of movements.  There is a serious intent to interpret the music or words that accompany the dancers. Contemporary dance class is the work currently being made by The Academy of Dance and Art who are pushing the field by drawing the new technique on our students body.

Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer’s individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

In the Musical Theatre classes we dance to music from popular musicals, learn how to act through drama games and practice our singing. The main focus of this class is on how to bring out the story of a song through dance.
Dance mix is a combination of different dance styles such as modern, jazz, musical theatre, African and creative movement. This class accommodates children from  4-6 years old who want to be introduced to different dance styles.
